SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Friday, Utah! A slow-moving upper-level low is moving inland from California today and will track through the Desert Southwest, eventually spreading some moisture into southern Utah & over the higher elevations statewide by this afternoon and evening. Isolated storm potential exists for the Wasatch Front as well, but there’s a better shot down south.
So, what’s the bottom line? A passing storm system will bring isolated thunderstorms back to parts of Utah this afternoon and into the first part of the weekend.
Due to the slower and farther south progression of the low, we will see overall drier conditions in Northern Utah but the chance for a storm still exists. When it comes to the Wasatch Front, Saturday brings a better chance of an isolated storm.
While the low is located south of Utah, its exit from the region will bring some impacts to the Beehive State. The low lifts to the Northeast into Saturday and while the system will pull away from SW Utah, we will see moisture potential and energy shift to eastern, central, and southern Utah.
