Utah ranks in the top five safest states in America, study shows

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A new study from WalletHub says Utah ranks as one of the safest states in America.

Utah ranks fifth among Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts in the top five safest states. The study from WalletHub says that the state ranks number one in workplace safety and four in emergency preparedness.

Looking closer at the state of Utah, Utah ranks among the highest in workplace safety (#1), emergency preparedness (#4), and road safety (#7). Utah ranks 14th in financial safety and 27th in personal safety.

Idaho came in at 11th overall while Nevada was 36th on the overall rankings.

WalletHub looked at 52 factors in each of the 50 states which were then grouped into five different categories. The data set ranges from assaults per capita to the total loss amount from climate disasters per capita to the unemployment rate.

  • Workplace Safety
  • Emergency Preparedness
