Trucking company owner to pay $8.1 million for 10 year FedEx bribery scheme

A former trucking company owner has been sentenced to pay millions in forfeiture and restitution related to a decade-long bribery scheme.

On October 1, 2024, Alexsander Vasiliyevich Barsukov pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and was sentenced to pay $1,378,702 in restitution, $6,754,845 in forfeiture, and a $100 special assessment.

Barsukov was also sentenced to three years of probation, including six months of home detention, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation – Office of Inspector General (DOT-OIG) .

Barsukov co-owned several trucking companies operating as Salt Lake Trucking Group (SLTG), which contracted with FedEx Ground.

Federal investigators say that SLTG bribed FedEx Ground employees in Utah to manipulate internal processes to award them with new truck routes. A FedEx employee also allegedly allowed SLTG to submit false information to increase their business.

DOT-OIG stated that SLTG was paid approximately $108 million by FedEx over 10 years.
