Nice weekend weather ahead with a big cold snap for next week

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Friday, Utah! High pressure in place over the region today is pulling in some warmer air from the southwest, so expect northern Utah to be about 10 degrees warmer than yesterday, which is pretty normal for this time of year.

Southern Utah will warm up around five degrees, making it feel up to 10 degrees above the usual. This warming trend will stick around through the weekend, especially in the north, pushing temperatures to about 10 degrees above average across the region. It’ll stay dry with light winds until Saturday.

Sunday’s shaping up to be another lovely day, even with some high clouds rolling in. Highs will be around five to 15 degrees above normal. But on Monday, expect a big change as more weather moves in.

A trough from the northeastern Pacific will start shifting into the western U.S. on Sunday, bringing stronger southwest winds. As it dives south along the West Coast and nudges inland, expect increasing moisture and wind into Monday.
