Increasing showers with dropping temperatures, snow levels to drop to 5,000 feet

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Monday, Utah! Our next storm system is moving down the West Coast and is ushering changes our way this afternoon.

It’s going to bring some significant changes to the area this evening as moisture will increase and cooler air is ushered in. Gusty southwest winds will continue in southwest Utah, with a Wind Advisory in effect for Iron and Beaver Counties today from noon to 9 p.m.

Southwest winds of 20-30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph are in the forecast ahead of the cold front. Temperatures are limited to the 50s and 60s in northern Utah with 60s and 70s for southern Utah.

The cold front associated with the incoming system will continue to move across the state today, bringing statewide showers into Tuesday with a chance of snow, especially in the mountains.

Snow levels will drop to about 5,000-6,000 feet by tomorrow morning. It’ll be much colder on Tuesday, with temperatures 10-25 degrees lower than today.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Utah mountains and the Wasatch Back from Monday night until 6 a.m. Wednesday. The Wasatch Back is forecasted to see roughly 2-5 inches with some areas around Park City receiving up to 8 inches.
