SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Wednesday, Utah! A cold front is moving out, leaving cooler, slightly moist air over eastern Utah. Temperatures will remain chilly today with daytime highs a good 10 degrees cooler than seasonal averages.
So, what’s the bottom line? Some warming will continue through the end of the week with more showers and another cooldown this weekend.
Plan on temperatures in the 40s for much of northern Utah, with southern Utah seeing 40s and 50s this afternoon. Clouds overnight kept temperatures from dropping too low this morning; however, another shot at freezing temperatures is likely Thursday morning, especially in central and southern Utah.
Tonight, a ridge will bring a brief break in the weather, but another trough will approach northern Utah by Thursday, bringing a slight chance of rain and snow, mostly north of I-80. Snow levels may dip to valley floors overnight, but impacts are expected to be minimal.
Folks heading out to trick-or-treat Thursday evening should plan on breezy winds in northern Utah with temperatures rebounding close to seasonal averages. Highs will reach the mid-50s Thursday afternoon for the Wasatch Front with partly cloudy skies. In southern Utah, highs in the mid-60s are expected for St. George.
