Cloudy and cool up north for Halloween, increasing showers over this weekend statewide

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Halloween, Utah! It’s been a cloudy start to the day along northern Utah with ample sunshine down south. A weak trough is bringing a few showers across northern Nevada and into southern Idaho and northern Utah today, mostly north of I-80.

So, what’s the bottom line? Cloudy and cool up north for Halloween, increasing showers over this weekend statewide.

Snow levels will stay above 5,500 feet, so if there’s any accumulation, it’ll stick to the higher terrain near the Idaho border. We’re getting a warm-up, with temps 4-8 degrees higher than yesterday, except near the Idaho border, where cloud cover will keep things cooler.

Daytime highs will be in the 50s along the Wasatch Front, with highs in the mid-60s for St. George. Trick-or-treaters along the Wasatch Front should plan on mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies, with temperatures falling into the mid-40s later this evening.

Friday looks dry with highs a few degrees below normal, but a weather pattern kicks in from Saturday through midweek. Expect two rounds of rain and snow, colder temps, and a chance of strong winds in southern Utah Saturday morning. A bigger storm is expected to hit Saturday night through Sunday, bringing rain and maybe a bit of valley snow.
