ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4) — Police at Utah Tech and in St. George have identified the suspect who is reportedly involved in multiple sexual assault cases on campus.
Utah Tech sexual assault suspect in custody, campus police say
Alex Gabriel Barajas, 22, was arrested earlier today and according to a probable cause statement out of Washington County, Barajas faces the following charges:
- three counts of rape, one is a first-degree felony, two are second-degree felonies.
- three counts of burglary of a dwelling, second-degree felonies
- two counts of lewdness and criminal trespassing including lewdness with a child, voyeurism, loitering or entering a different gender’s private room
- one count of criminal trespassing of a dwelling with the intention of annoying someone or provoking injury, crime, or fear
Barajas is reportedly connected to multiple reports of sexual assault in Campus View Suites 1 on East 100 South on the morning of Friday, Nov. 1. Upon receiving the reports, the Utah Tech Police Department secured the building and set a safety notice to alert the campus.
