SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) – Happy Veterans Day, Utah! Today will bring even warmer weather as a southerly breeze drags warmer air from the desert southwest and across the Beehive State.
The bottom line? Temperatures warm up even more today before a much colder and soggier Tuesday.
Daytime highs will climb 10-15 degrees above seasonal norms in northern and central Utah with temperatures reaching the low to mid-60s for valleys and mid-50s for higher terrain. The southernmost parts of Utah also get a temperature bump, but only by a few degrees with lower Washington County topping out in the upper 60s to low 70s.
These warmer southerly winds are found ahead of an incoming cold front, giving us the “warm before the storm” effect before high temperatures plummet into the mid to upper 40s for most on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s cold front will bring the bulk of the moisture to the Wasatch Range, approximately from Provo to Cache Valley, bringing valley rain and mountain snow. There’s still a good chance we see some showers as far down as central Utah and possibly in the southern mountains.
