Dry conditions are set to continue across Utah and southwest Wyoming through Thursday, with temperatures slightly above normal thanks to southwest winds. However, that will change by Friday, when a storm system will bring rain and snow through the weekend.
A trough moving in from the west will bring a mix of mild southerly flow and clouds to the region. As the system splits Saturday, rain will fall across the valleys, with snow likely to accumulate in higher elevations. Northern valleys could see up to 1″ of snow, while the mountains may receive 3-10″, with the Upper Cottonwoods expecting the heaviest snowfall. Though precipitation totals are expected to be lower than earlier storms, this weekend’s weather will mark a shift towards colder, winter-like conditions.
