A frigid start for a cold Tuesday with lake-effect snow showers

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Happy Tuesday, Utah! It’s a very cold start to our Tuesday with many areas down into the 10s and 20s for morning lows.

Bottom Line?! Morning lake-effect snow showers, followed by a partly sunny and cold Tuesday.

This morning we are seeing snow ramp up again, especially in the mountains. Lake-effect snow has developed over parts of Davis, Weber, and Salt Lake counties this morning creating some pockets of reduced visibility and slick travel conditions.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for areas between Ogden and N. Salt Lake, and the Wasatch Back near Park City through 11 a.m., Tuesday. The snow should clear out by early afternoon, leaving behind plenty of cold temperatures. High temperatures on Tuesday will only be in the 30s for most across northern Utah, and 40s to low 50s for central and southern sections of Utah.

Prepare for a hard freeze again Wednesday morning across most of the state.

By Wednesday, things calm down with high pressure taking over. Expect warmer, drier weather for the rest of the week. Daytime high temperatures will steadily rise, hitting above average by late-week. This will lead to highs in the mid-50s across the northern half of the state, with highs in the mid-60s for southern Utah!
