A Utah man died Saturday in his sleep after an illness while serving as a mission president in France for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“We are saddened to announce that President Jason Michael Soulier, serving in the France Lyon Mission, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Saturday, December 28, 2024,” church spokesman Sam Penrod said.
Penrod said Soulier had been ill for a few days preceding his death. An official cause of death has not been determined.
Soulier, 54, is the father of four adult children. He and his wife, Sister Jennifer H. Soulier, were members of the Salt Lake East Mill Creek Stake when he was called to lead the Lyon Mission beginning in June.
“We express our love and deepest sympathies to President Soulier’s family and all the missionaries in the France Lyon Mission during this difficult time,” Penrod said. “We pray all will feel the Savior’s love as they honor and remember President Soulier’s faithful service.”
Soulier was leading approximately 200 full-time missionaries serving in the Lyon region.
