More moisture brings more wintry mix to valley floors

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Happy Sunday, Utah! Most Utahns will enjoy dry weather with mostly sunny skies in the south and mostly cloudy in the north.

A few of us in the northernmost part of the state could see a few flurries this afternoon and evening. Whatever snowflakes we do see will be brief and should mainly stay in higher terrain north of I-80. Temperatures today will be similar to yesterday’s. Daytime highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s in the north, low to mid 30s for higher terrain, and low to mid 40s with a few 50s in southern Utah.

Monday ushers in more widespread precipitation, but it won’t pack quite the punch that Saturday’s snowstorm did. The bulk of the moisture will be north of I-70, but some could reach as far south as Cedar City by Monday night into Tuesday. During the day it’ll be mostly valley rain and mountain snow as valleys will be a touch too warm, but snow levels drop to valley floors Monday night into Tuesday morning.
