Rain and snow possible to start Utah’s work week

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) – Happy Monday, Utah! We’ve got gloomy weather to kick off the week – as if Mondays were not gloomy enough.

Today ushers in more widespread precipitation, but it won’t pack quite the punch that Saturday’s snowstorm did as there isn’t as much moisture to work with. Today’s high temperatures will be slightly cooler than yesterday with daytime highs in the upper 30s to low 40s on valley floors, 30s for higher terrain, and low to mid 50s for the warm spots in southwest Utah.

The bottom line? Cold and soggy weather kick off the week with widespread rain and snow showers. Snow accumulation will stay fairly light across the state. Keep an eye out for downslope winds and colder temps!

Valleys will have mostly rain showers or a rain/snow mix during the day and periods of straight snow in the morning and overnight hours. Valley accumulation will be limited, if any at all, with most valleys staying under an inch. Benches will see snow stick around longer, so a dusting to three inches will be possible, and the Wasatch Back can expect around one to three inches.
