Lincoln County woman found dead in Virginia 18 hours after being reported missing: Sheriff

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Lincoln County woman was found dead in Virginia less than 18 hours after she was reported missing, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

On Monday, around 9:45 p.m., deputies responded to a missing person’s call in the 3500 block of Imperial Lane in Lincolnton. Family members made the call because they were concerned when she didn’t return home.

Officials say 31-year-old Taylor Hope Unell was missing from the camper she was living in and was last seen around 7:25 a.m. by her boyfriend.

Detectives were able to find her location using her phone carrier, which was pinged near I-77 in Virginia just past the North Carolina state line. Virginia State Police were also contacted and helped with the search.

At 3:37 on Tuesday, Virginia State Police found Unell dead in her vehicle at a rest area in Virginia, officials confirmed.
