Many Virginians to lose Hulu access in March

In the early morning hours of February 6, 2024, an email from Hulu appeared in the inboxes of millions of subscribers.

With the oft-seen“We’re Updating Our Subscriber Agreement” email subject line, it may have seemed, to many, an email to just delete, unread. However, the reason behind the message is one that will affect many of the streaming giant’s viewers.

The email is brief, but with one particular sentence designed to grab the reader’s attention:

“We’re adding limitations on sharing your account outside of your household, and explaining how we may assess your compliance with these limitations.”

The email includes a link to the Subscriber Agreement, with a revision date of January 25, 2024.

Under Section Two of the agreement, is a paragraph labeled “Account Sharing,” which now reads:

Unless otherwise permitted by your Service Tier, you may not share your subscription outside of your household. “Household” means the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside therein. Additional usage rules may apply for certain Service Tiers.
