This week, the Virginia House of Delegates voted 94-2 to pass the Cake Pop bill to give freedom to small sellers of homemade goods. Before this week, some Virginia delegates did not know what a cake pop was.
According to Virginia Mercury, when the bill was heard, some lawmakers from more rural parts of Virginia were unfamiliar with cake pops.

For lawmakers to discuss thoroughly and vote on the bill, they needed to see and even taste a cake pop.
Delegate Tony Wilt, R-Rockingham, asked:
“What does a cake pop look like? What’s the size of it?”
He was told to think of it as a little piece of cake on a stick like a popsicle. That confused some members who didn’t know if cake pops should be eaten or licked.
For members of the House of Delegates to find out what cake pops are, more than two dozen Starbucks cake pops were passed out to committee members.
