Residents of Virginia are in for a treat, quite literally, as the state government has just passed a quirky law aimed at fast-food giant McDonald’s. Known for their notoriously unreliable ice cream machines, McDonald’s in Virginia will now face a delicious penalty for any machine malfunctions. If a customer encounters an “out of order” sign on the ice cream machine, they are immediately entitled to free food as compensation.
This groundbreaking law was reportedly inspired by a state senator’s frustrating experience of craving a McFlurry only to be told, for the umpteenth time, that the machine was down. In an act of legislative jest, the new law was swiftly passed, much to the amusement and secret delight of Virginians.
McDonald’s response was a mix of bewilderment and apprehension. “We are committed to serving our customers with a smile, even if it now means giving away free Big Macs because of our temperamental ice cream machines,” stated a McDonald’s spokesperson, trying to maintain a straight face.
