CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Acorns, black walnuts and chestnuts are now falling on forest floors, yards, parking lots and sidewalks across Virginia. Left alone, many will never grow into trees, especially in urban areas. The Virginia Department of Forestry (DOF) is asking you to collect acorns and nuts and drop them off at your local DOF office. Use the “Find a Forester” tool on the agency’s home page to find a DOF location near you.
