Pinpoint Weather: Damp and cloudy week ahead

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — Keep the rain gear handy; wet and unsettled weather is anticipated for the week across Southwest and Central Virginia.

A cloudy Monday is in the works as scattered showers and storms push in from the west during the day. Not everyone will see rain, but pockets of heavy rainfall are possible. There is a slightly higher chance for showers and storms west of the Blue Ridge. Afternoon temperatures will reach the 70s under mostly cloudy skies.

The unsettled pattern will continue into Tuesday and Wednesday as a slow-moving cold front approaches from the west. There’s a daily chance for scattered showers and storms. Locally heavy rainfall could lead to minor flooding concerns. A few storms could produce gusty winds and hail.

Otherwise, it will be cloudy with little warming in the forecast. Morning temperatures will start in the 60s before warming up into the 70s each afternoon.

Isolated showers and storms are possible on Thursday with variably cloudy skies overhead. Temperatures will be slightly warmer with highs in the 70s and lower 80s.
