Virginia prosecutes RICO violations
A hearing will take place this morning to determine who gave Federal agents permission to raid Sean Combs’s jail cell and remove privileged information last Friday.
Combs is charged with RICO violations, defined by the 1970 US Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). Newsweek reports that Racketeering is a criminal act in which the person or people involved set up a coercive, fraudulent, or otherwise illegal scheme or operation to make money.
Virginia, one of 34 US states, and Puerto Rico uphold the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act. If Combs had been accused of the crimes in any of the states not listed by Bloomberg Law, he might not have as many pending charges. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
