NEWARK, N.J. (WRIC) — A Virginia man has been sentenced after trafficking illegal drugs to New Jersey multiple times.
Djavon Holland, 37, of Virginia, was convicted by a federal jury on two counts of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl on Monday, Dec. 23. He was sentenced to 180 months in prison with four years of supervised release.
According to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), law enforcement received a tip that Holland was trafficking narcotics in and around Virginia and New Jersey in August 2021.
Holland reportedly drove to New Jersey on several locations to sell fentanyl and heroin to a confidential source that was working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, according to the DOJ.
According to court documents, one of the first recorded incidents was in August 2021, when Holland reportedly sold the confidential source $4,500 worth of narcotics. In November 2021, Holland drove to New Jersey again and sold the confidential source $15,000 worth of narcotics.
