HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – The number of breast and oral cancer cases in Virginia was reportedly higher in 2021 than in 2017, according to the National Cancer Institute. The U.S. General Surgeon, Dr. Vivek Murthy, released an advisory about the negative effects alcohol has on people’s health. In his advisory, he called for the labeling of cancer risks on alcoholic beverages to increase awareness. He said only 45% of Americans know about the harmful effects alcohol has and a label on the bottle could help disclose the associated health risks.
