Shooting guns on holidays has Virginians concerned

There have been warnings across the US for decades about the dangers of shooting guns during holiday celebrations. Gunshots recently were heard in several Virginia neighborhoods amid fireworks celebrating 2025.

This also happens on July 4th, Memorial Day, and other celebratory events. For years, Virginians have said this practice should be banned because “bullets have no names, as sadly a Florida family found out.

Virginians want holiday gun shooting prohibited

WDBJ7 reported to its Southwest Virginia viewing audience that a ten-year-old Florida girl, Yaneliz Munguia, lost her life after being struck by a stray bullet in Miami on New Year’s Day.

Virginia law states that guns cannot be fired near populated areas, residences, or buildings. Some locals say there needs to be a specific law stating that holiday shooting along with fireworks is illegal.
