On Sunday morning, an elderly Snohomish County woman was walking her dog in her own backyard when she was attacked from behind by a black bear!
The Attack
The attack took place shortly before 8 AM Sunday morning in the 49400 block of Index-Galena Road near Highway 2 in Snohomish County. The woman had unknowingly surprised a female bear and her cub in the dark, triggering the bear’s protective instinct. The woman gave the bear a good fight and was able to escape its clutches and flee with her unharmed dog back to her house close by. She received serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she stayed for the night.
