Unbearable Heatwave Continues in Western Washington Before Cooler Weather Arrives

Seattle, WA – Western Washington is under a Heat Advisory today, with hot and dry conditions persisting across the region. Temperatures are expected to peak in the 80s and 90s, continuing a trend of elevated temperatures that has left many areas sweltering.

This morning, temperatures remain high due to a thermal trough, with some locations around Puget Sound potentially breaking daily minimum temperature records. The heat will be particularly intense along the Pacific Coast before cooler onshore winds begin to provide some relief.

A low pressure system moving towards the Pacific Northwest is set to weaken the high-pressure ridge, leading to cooler temperatures over the weekend. On Saturday, temperatures will drop to the 70s and 80s, with further cooling expected by Sunday. Cloud cover will increase, and temperatures will stabilize in the mid to upper 70s for most lowland areas, while the Cascade foothills may still see pockets of 80 degrees.
