October Tours: Exploring Washington Apples at Governor’s Mansion

The Washington Governor’s Mansion Foundation has announced the dates for its October tours of the historic landmark celebrating the apples of the Evergreen State.

Tours will start on Wednesday, Oct. 2 and Wednesday, Oct. 9, the Foundation has announced, at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and Noon

Visitors can not only tour the mansion’s rooms, but they can explore the history of Washington apples, which includes a collection of vintage apple box labels on display from the Yakima Valley Museum, according to the Foundation.

The mansion gallery will also feature an oil painting titled “Wenatchee Apples” by E. L. Pierce Milholland, the Foundation has announced further.

A new exhibit in the gallery features the artworks of Eugene Landry (1937-1988), a member of the Shoalwater Bay Tribe, and photographs by Toni Roth, a photographer and resident of the Yakama Indian Reservation in Toppenish, the Foundation reports.

Interested parties can book a free tour online. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance and are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis to 30 guests maximum, according to the Foundation.
