Opinion: Data center tax breaks mean jobs in rural communities

On March 4, 2022, I stood on the floor of the Washington State House to advocate for ESHB 1846, a pivotal piece of legislation offering tax incentives for technology companies to build data centers in Washington, particularly in our rural communities. “The bill before you,” I said, “is about data center tax preferences, but it’s about more than that. It’s about jobs, and it’s about jobs in our rural communities.”
