3 Oregon and Washington state parks among top 10 to visit in US: See the list

The Pacific Northwest is never short on outdoor recreation activities with iconic destinations and parks to explore.

In Oregon and Washington state, three state parks recently made travel blog The Discoverer’s list of ” 10 U.S. State Parks Worth the Visit.”

Here’s what to know about the parks and how to visit.

Silver Falls State Park

It’s easy to see why Oregon State Parks calls Silver Falls State Park the “crown jewel” of its state parks system. Silver Falls offers 10 waterfalls for visitors to explore along 8-9 miles of trails. Visitors can either hike the entire trail to explore all 10 falls or opt for something a little easier and family friendly by visiting the South Falls Day Use Area to see the iconic 177-foot South Falls .

The park also offers 35 miles of trails for mountain biking, horseback riding and hiking. Visitors at the South Falls Day Use Area can utilize park amenities like picnic tables, barbecues, a playground, horseshoe pits, off-leash dog area, cafe, lodge and nature store, according to the Oregon State Parks website.
