ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Father and son fishermen don’t let a heart condition stop them from doing what they love. Since the late 70s, Gene and Mark Henricks have participated in fishing tournaments throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. Each year, they join at least 14 tournaments, always looking for more to add to their roster. For years, Gene has suffered from atrial fibrillation, or an irregular heartbeat. A stroke in October of 2021 was the sign Gene needed to take a proactive approach towards heart health.
