Watch: The Great American Eclipse is on the way this spring

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – In less than two months, a solar eclipse will be taking place. This will be one of the rare times that it can be viewed in a good portion of the United States. While Wisconsin won’t be in the path of the total eclipse, over 80% of the sun will be blocked by the moon on April 8 at the peak of the eclipse that Monday afternoon. It is too soon to know what the weather will be like that day, but climatology for April 8 isn’t overly favorable for a clear sky. Granted, the last three years in Wausau have featured clouds with precipitation on this date. No less, this year the weather pattern could be different and lead to dry conditions with brighter skies not only in Wisconsin but hopefully for many other locations from Texas to Maine.
