Wisconsin skygazers may have another opportunity to see the northern lights Friday and Saturday night.

Strong geomagnetic storms throughout the year have caused the celestial event to dazzle across the night sky in Wisconsin on numerous appearances , most recently in mid-October .

When could I see the northern lights in Wisconsin?

Parts of the northern U.S. — including Wisconsin — will have a chance to see the northern lights Friday and Saturday night, according to a forecast from the NOAA’s Space Prediction Weather Center .

Fridays’s forecast has a Kp index of three while Saturday’s has a Kp index of four, meaning the aurora will be likely dimmer in intensity and not very active, according to the NOAA.

It’s likely sky gazers will have a better chance of catching the phenomenon on Saturday rather than Friday.
