Death of missing Wisconsin man being investigated by Illinois State Police, found in creek

ROSEMONT, Ill. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin man who was reported missing earlier this week was found dead in an overturned vehicle in an Illinois creek on Friday, prompting an investigation.

According to the New Berlin Police Department , New Berlin resident Benjamin Oberto, 45, was reported missing on November 14. Officers say Oberto’s last known location was in Crystal Lake, Illinois, for work.

Around 3:40 p.m. on November 15, the Illinois State Police found Oberto’s vehicle overturned in a creek near I-90 eastbound to I-294 northbound in Rosemont. Authorities pronounced Oberto dead at the scene.

The incident is currently under investigation.
