(WFRV) – Authorities in southern Wisconsin are reminding drivers to slow down and move over for first responders after two squad cars were hit, one of which was done so by an impaired driver.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office , on December 9 just before 9 p.m. a deputy got out of his car on I-43/894 to remove debris from the freeway. Not long after, the deputy’s vehicle was reportedly hit from behind by another vehicle.
Officials say that the vehicle was driven by an impaired driver who later acknowledged that he was drinking alcohol earlier.

Eventually, additional squad cars got to the crash scene to help close lanes of traffic. Before one deputy could exit his car, it was hit by another driver.
This driver reportedly told deputies that he did not realize a lane closure was about to happen. The squad car in the first incident had minor damage while the squad car in the second incident had substantial, according to the release.
