STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Sunday morning was filled with the sound of purring engines and the smell of car polish, as classic and contemporary cars gathered just off Father Capodanno Boulevard.
The inaugural Cars Care Car and Jeep Show came to Parking Lot 9 at Midland Beach on Sunday, with more than 200 car owners and hundreds of onlookers coming together to raise money to benefit the Northwell Staten Island University Hospital Pediatric Oncology center.
“I opened up this business, Cars Care, after the amount of shows I used to do” said Christopher Haynes, who formerly organized the New Dorp High School car show.
”We decided this year, all money raised is going to go to Staten Island University Hospital’s pediatric cancer center,“ Haynes continued.
“I didn’t expect the turnout we have, but everybody came and supported and we filled this lot,” Haynes said about the first-year event. ” I’m glad it turned out the way it did and I look forward to doing bigger and better things, and finding another great organization [to help].”
Along with the cars, those in attendance enjoyed an array of food trucks, live music, shopping and a 50/50 raffle with a car as the grand prize…
