STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Staten Island man acquitted of murder in 2024 is headed to trial on a weapons charge stemming from the same case, court records indicate.
Prosecutors said Sean Alston, 30, of Arlo Road in Grymes Hill, stabbed another man to death on the afternoon of Nov. 20, 2024, during a wild brawl sparked by what sources described as a custody dispute.
Following Alston’s arrest, he testified before the grand jury in December 2024 that he did not intentionally cause Baker-Dunning’s death. The grand jury elected to dismiss the murder charges.
Alston, who has a criminal record, was arraigned Jan. 8, 2025, in state Supreme Court, St. George, on a top count of possessing a knife while having a prior conviction. He’s also charged with misdemeanor weapons possession, records indicate.
