Man sentenced to 5 years in prison for heroin distribution conviction in Sussex County

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — A 49-year-old Elizabeth man has been sentenced to five years in state prison after pleading guilty to possessing heroin with the intent to distribute it in Sussex County, according to the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Sussex County Prosecutor Daniel M. Perez announced that Raqui Gilbert was sentenced June 26 by Superior Court Judge Janine M. Allen at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton.

In addition to the prison sentence, Gilbert received credit for 240 days already served in the Sussex County jail. He also must submit a DNA sample and pay $1,205 in mandatory fines and penalties…
