STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Four Staten Islanders were swept up in a federal bust Wednesday tied to an alleged green card scheme that authorities say involved the exchange of money for sham weddings to a U.S. citizen.
According to an indictment unsealed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, the scheme had gone on for years and resulted in more than 1,000 fraudulent marriages from at least 2016 through July 2026.
