Woodbridge Mayor Has a New Job: “Grandpa!”

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Mayor John McCormac has held many prestigious posts in his public service career.

None are more special, or as heart-warming, as the latest job in McCormac’s personal life: Grandfather.

On Friday, Jan. 19th, McCormac and his wife, Tammy, became first-time grandparents to Matthew Thomas Kimmeth. Matthew weighed-in at 8lbs, 7oz., and 20-inches long.

Their daughter, Erin Kimmeth, gave birth to Matthew in Colorado, her husband Christopher at her side.

Erin, 33, and her newborn son, are doing well, McCormac told TAPinto Woodbridge–Carteret.

“My 88-year-old mother, Mary, who lives in the Menlo Park Terrace house where I grew up, is now also a great-grandmother,” McCormac said.

“Many people told me that becoming a grandparent was the greatest feeling. They were absolutely right. It is terrific. Our family is thrilled,” McCormac said.

Municipal business has regrettably kept McCormac in town since Matthew’s birth. “So, I have not met my grandson yet.” But, the mayor and his wife plan to visit Colorado this weekend to get acquainted with their grandson, and visit their daughter.
