While land conversation efforts began in the 19th century, an organized-statewide agency wasn’t developed until 1924. And now in 2024, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in conjunction with WMHT is celebrating their centennial by producing “From Land to Legacy: 100 Years of New York State Parks & Preservation.”
