Staten Islanders are producing hundreds of pounds of trash per person, the highest amount in NYC

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Islanders are tossing out more trash than anyone else in New York City. A new study from cleaning service Homeaglow found that New York City residents produced more than 1.3 million tons of trash during the first seven months of 2024, with Brooklyn producing, by far the most overall, but Staten Island leading the way in garbage production per capita.
