Colin Jost came clean to People about how his wife, Scarlett Johansson , reacted to him and Pete Davidson purchasing a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry.
The purchase, which Jost called “absolutely the dumbest and least thought-through purchase I’ve ever made in my life,” came as something of a surprise to Johansson despite her husband’s claim that he “soft-floated” the idea prior to purchase.
“She was just like, ‘Wait, so you own this boat now?’ Very fair question,” Jost said of Johansson’s initial reaction. After shelling out a combined $280,000 for the boat, Jost, Davidson, and their co-investor, Paul Italia, were flummoxed about what to do with it. Earlier this month, it was announced as the location for Tommy Hilfiger’s 2024 fashion show . The trio of owners are mulling several uses for the ferry, including a hotel with several restaurants.
Johansson has somewhat softened to the purchase now that there’s a tangible use for it, even giving her husband some advice from her own career with the hope that the Staten Island Ferry will be more than a footnote in Jost and Davidson’s careers.
