New York City Mayor Eric Adams Indicted Amid Federal Corruption Investigation, Calls Unsealed Charges ‘Entirely False’ And ‘Based On Lies’

On Wednesday evening (September 25), amid a federal corruption investigation, New York City Mayor Eric Adams was indicted by a federal grand jury in New York and became the first sitting mayor of New York City to be criminally charged, according to the New York Times .

The report follows a federal corruption investigation that saw several people in Mayor Eric Adams’ administration resigning. The investigation began over a year ago and also saw several searches and seizures of the Mayor’s electronics, and subpoenas for other materials, assets, and information. The report also follows Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for his immediate resignation “for the good of the City.”

In a statement to the NY Times, AOC said she could “not see how Mayor Adams can continue governing New York City.” She added, “The flood of resignations and vacancies are threatening government function. Nonstop investigations will make it impossible to recruit and retain a qualified administration. For the good of the city, he should resign.”
