Feds allege Staten Islanders arrested in FDNY bribery case used secret City Hall practices as a cover

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – An indictment accusing two former fire chiefs of accepting nearly $200,000 in a “pay for play” bribery scheme foreshadowed the arrest of Mayor Eric Adams a week later on similar allegations, and federal officials say the FDNY defendants used the city’s practice of giving certain developers and projects preferential treatment as a cover for their own scheme.
