STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – By day, the stone-faced building to which some refer as Mission of the Immaculate Virgin presents a scenic backdrop to the annual Italian Festival at Mount Loretto. Come dusk under spotlights, the church glows red and green for a further reminder of the Columbus Day weekend, or as it is also know — Indigenous People’s Day.
