STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.– Earlier this month, the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) unveiled the city’s very first lowered speed limit under new legislation. The new 20 mph speed limit sign installed near Prospect Park West and Third Street represents the first of many under Sammy’s Law, which allows the city to set lower speed limits on local streets.
