4 firefighters injured battling brush and building blaze in Richmond Valley Thursday night

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Four firefighters suffered minor injuries fighting a fire in a vacant building in Richmond Valley that triggered a large FDNY response Thursday night. Twelve units and 60 firefighters responded to the “all hands” blaze, which was reported at around 7:50 p.m. in a vacant two-story wooden building located at 6663 Hylan Blvd and the heavy brush surrounding the structure, an FDNY spokesperson said.
