Publicist Eric Schiffer says Sean “Diddy” Combs’s friends are worried about getting entangled in his legal complications.
“Unlike Harvey Weinstein or R. Kelly, the response to Diddy’s arrest is massively quiet within the celebrity community,” the L.A.-based PR expert told the Mirror, emphasizing the sharp contrast to other high-profile cases.
Diddy’s Hollywood circle has been noticeably quiet about him since a video of an altercation involving his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura surfaced. Diddy is facing charges, which he denies. Celebrities used to flock to his extravagant parties, but since his arrest, none have defended him.
The music mogul’s associates probably fear being called to testify and are worried about their reputations. According to Schiffer, “Celebrities are silent because they are afraid of their brands being highlighted and losing fans because of their ties to Diddy, and worse, being subpoenaed to reveal Diddy’s chamber of secrets.”
The ‘I Will Be Missing You’ singer is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, while he awaits trial on a startling 100 counts of sexual misconduct charges, which include both criminal and civil lawsuits. Other well-known inmates, including R Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell, have previously been held at the MDC.
