Debrina Kawam named as NYC subway victim as badly charred body finally identified over a week after she was set on fire

THE woman burned alive in a sickening attack on the New York subway has been identified by police.

Debrina Kawam, 61, from Toms River, New Jersey, died from her heinous injuries after she was set alight in a train car on December 22.

Sebastian Zapeta , 33, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who was previously deported from the US, has been indicted over the killing.

He faces one count of murder in the first degree, three counts of murder in the second degree, and one count of arson.

Kawam’s body was so badly burned that police took over a week to identify her remains.

As he sat beside the train, cops took some time to realize he was the suspect.

Her reasons for traveling from Toms River, a small township on the Jersey Shore, are still being investigated by the NYPD.

She was reportedly living rough in New York at the time of her death, according to the Coalition for the Homeless.
