After almost 15 years, 24-hour bagel store and gyro shop closes on Staten Island: ‘Bagel business is not easy’

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After nearly 15 years in business, Clove Road Bagels has closed its doors. This 24-hour deli, located at a busy Sunnyside crossroads with an encyclopedic edible inventory, was a final food pitstop for North Shore travelers before hitting the Staten Island Expressway.

The owners of the store could not be reached for comment by deadline. Clove Road Bagels’ Google entry lists the place as “temporarily closed” although its vendors say they do not expect it to reopen under current management.

As the name suggests, Clove Road Bagels at 1300 Clove Rd. served hot bagels throughout traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner hours. It also presented groceries, a produce section, a massive line of beverages including fresh squeezed juices, frozen yogurt, packaged salads and complete meals…
